Spring Fling - Matson Conservation Area Pollinator Festival

Sunday 23 April 2017 10:00am - 03:00pm

Matson PosterThe winter has finally come to an end and it's time for a Spring Fling!

This April we will be hosting our Spring Fling Pollinator Festival event at the Matson Conservation Area in Esquimalt. We will be hosting nature walks with loads of information about pollinators, native species, gardening, and land conservation! Sweets will be provided by HAT.

At 10:15 pro hummingbird photographer and naturalist Eric Pittman will lead a Hummingbird Walk. Learn about the migratory Rufous Hummingbird along Victoria's Migratory Bird Sanctuary, as well as where to spot hummingbird nests and their favourite plants. See some of Eric's photography here: http://www.hummingbirdsupclose.com

At 1:00 PM join a Family-Friendly Bee Safari with Madame Beespeaker for a slow walk through the landscape to learn how to spot and identify a few of the many species of bees that pollinate the flowers of the Garry Oak ecosystems. If the weather is bee-friendly, we hope to see lots of pollinators at work. Bring your cameras!
