Learn about Native Bees, why they are important to our ecosystems and what you can do to protect them

Sunday April 22, 1:00 PM

Nature House at the Portal
253 North Cove Road,
Thetis Island, B.C.

Suzanne Sarioglu

We will have a short presentation and discussion on Native Bees learning to identify some of the more common ones, their life cycles and habitat including foraging and nesting. We will then talk about creating pollinator gardens following the principles of succession planting and providing habitat for nesting. A site has been prepared at the Nature House in which we will then plant a pollinator garden using a mix of native plants and some non invasive non plants. We will discuss Bee structures like Bee Hotels  and provide information on the correct design of them.
