Check out our ANNUAL REPORT!
After such a long, socially distanced 10 months, it was an absolute pleasure to host HAT’s Annual General Meeting! Sure, the event was virtual and took place (like everything else these days) over Zoom, and we weren’t able to spend time together physically, but these are all the things we’re slowly growing accustomed to.
On Wednesday, 27 January, the HAT board & staff were lucky enough to spend some quality time in a “Zoom” room with nearly 30 HAT members. It was a wonderful chance for us all to reconnect around HAT, and to see some faces that we haven’t seen in many months. Coming together as a community is a special thing, and we can’t thank you members who participated enough, especially this year.
Participating in HAT governance is a very important membership responsibility, and we are grateful to all of our members for their guidance, advice, and perspective. We hold our annual general meeting every year at the end of January where the board reports out on the general direction and financial state of the organisation. It is also a chance for the HAT staff to report to members on everything that had been accomplished in the previous fiscal year (and HAT fiscal years run 1 Nov-31 Oct). New board members are voted on at AGMs, answer also say our thanks and our farewells to board members completing their terms.
This year, we say farewell to Stephanie Hazlitt and Peter Lewis, two board members who will be moving on to other adventures. Thank you for your service gift of time to HAT.
We are very glad to welcome to the board Larry Statland, who will bring great financial and organizational insights to HAT’s governance. Thanks Larry, we look forward to working with you!
If you were not able to make this year’s AGM, it was recorded and will be made available at some point in the near future (once we can work out a location to share it effectively) - stay tuned to the Fern and the HAT blog for when this gets posted.
And stay tuned for next year’s AGM! If you would like to participate in HAT governance, take a look at our membership page. We would love to welcome you, and to work with you to ensure that the ecosystems that support us are stewarded for future generations in a good, inclusive way.
