Mary lake

HAT is supporting the Highlands Stewardship Foundation's campaign to purchase the 107 acre Mary Lake parcel and turn it into a park that will benefit the community forever.

The Mary Lake property is 107 acres of second growth Douglas-fir forest, seasonal wetlands, creeks, and of course the 7 acre Lake itself.  The property connects Gowlland-Tod Park with Thetis Lake Park, creating a wildlife and trail network that will benefit ecosystems and outdoor enthusiasts for generations.

More information will be coming to the HAT website soon, but you can learn more and save your square meter today at www.savemarylake.com.

Do you remember planting your first tree?

Volunteers planted over 40 trees and shrubs at the new Adam Kerr Park in Central Saanich as part of HAT's Cordova Shore Good Neighbours Project. Cuthroat trout downstream in Tetayut Creek are enjoying better habitat as a result of restoration work completed here by Central Saanich and Peninsula Streams. Thanks to Gerald Harris and his Baha'i eco-team who will join us again at the Matson Conservation Area in November! Call HAT to get you team working for nature! 250 995 2428

Plant a tree with HAT this Saturday!

Join HAT tree planting volunteers this Saturday, October 23rd

Adam Kerr Park in Central Saanich is a new park with a recently created pond that was adopted this year by at least one endangered painted turtle. We’re going to help the District of Central Saanich and Peninsula Streams to plant over 100 trees and shrubs as part of a natural buffer for Tetayut/Sandhill Creek. We will offer a nature tour, planting workshop, and free lunch for all volunteers! This project is a conservation outcome of our Cordova Shore Good Neighbours Project. Bring your eye protection, dress for the weather, and meet us at the bridge over the creek (see map). Transport may be arranged in advance. Please call Todd to let us know you’re planning to attend 250 995 2428  (250 812 7467 day of event).
