Adam Taylor
Adam Taylor, Executive Director, B.A.

Adam joined HAT early in 2008 after working as a Naturalist and manager for many years at Nature Houses on southern Vancouver Island. He brings a passion for environmental education and community engagement, and a wealth of experience working with youth in outdoor settings. As Executive Director, Adam oversees day-to-day operations of the HAT office.

Todd Carnahan

Todd Carnahan, Land CARE Coordinator, BES

Todd has delivered our Good Neighbours landowner contact projects since 2004. He works with partner groups around the region to co ordinate conservation efforts protecting environmentally significant and sensitive areas including Mill Hill Regional Park, the Colquitz watershed, Matson Conservation Area, Sharp-tailed Snake habitats, and Rithet's Bog.  Formerly an ecological planner with the Royal Botanical Gardens, Todd has been involved with community land care and eco-restoration projects in Southern Ontario, Esquimalt Lagoon, Swan Lake, and Hagan Creek in Saanichton.

Wendy Tyrrell, Covenants & Acquisitions Coordinator, B.Sc.

Wendy is originally from California, holds a BSc in Ecology & Systematic Biology and has been working in the field of restoration and invasive plant management for more than six years. Prior to moving to Canada, Wendy worked as an ecologist for a local land trust developing and implementing restoration projects on covenanted lands and monitoring the efficacy of their invasive plant program. 

As the Covenants & Acquisitions Coordinator, Wendy works with public and private landowners to assist them in placing permanent protection on their lands through conservation covenants and/or acquisitions. In addition, Wendy performs annual compliance monitoring on HAT’s covenanted properties.

Peter Papagiannis, Community and Development Coordinator, B.A.

Peter has lived his entire life on Vancouver Island which has had a huge influence on his engagement with nature. While attending the University of Victoria, he worked as water conservation coordinator before discovering his true passion of food security and improving agricultural land. He is an active member of the Victoria community and has worked on various projects with FoodRoots Distribution Cooperative, Lifecycles Project Society and Transition Victoria. 

As the Community and Development Coordinator, Peter brings a wealth of experience in community development, community relations and fundraising. He works with members, donors and partners to ensure that HAT reaches their financial goals to keep their programs strong. His first priority is to always make sure the community is connected to the organization.

Paige Erikson-McGee

Paige joined HAT as our 2012 Outreach Intern.  She has just completed her Environmental Technology diploma at Camosun College, and has returned to studies at the University of Victoria this  fall.

Christian Engelstoft, MSc., RPBio., Biologist

Christian has working with HAT to locate and help steward species at risk since 2004.  Christian is the Scientific Advisor to the Sharp-tailed Snake and Western Painted Turtle Recovery Teams.  His studies have been published in a number of journals.

Kristiina Ovasja, PhD, Biologist

Kristiina started working with HAT to protect Western Painted Turtles and Blue-grey Taildroppers in 2008.  Kristiina a member of the COSEWIC Subcommittees on molluscs and amphibians & reptiles.  She has published over 40 refereed articles.

 
Michael Brinsmead, Bookkeeper

Michael has managed HAT's bookkeeping since 2007 through his bookkeeping business, Farhill Accounting.
