Spring at Matson Conservation Area

With this weather, we can't help but dream about spring. But don't worry - it's near! In the meantime, enjoy these beautiful spring photos taken by Eva Wainwright, a member of the Matson Mattocks stewardship group.

In spring, the meadows and rocky outcrops of the Matson Conservation Area in Esquimalt light up with colour as camas, shooting star, and other native wildflowers bloom. A forested ravine contains Douglas-fir, trailing blackberries, and fawn lilies. Species at Risk found onsite include Hooker's onion, Great Blue Heron, and Purple Martin.
