Grow Hope * Restore Nature *

*NEW* for 2025

You can join the movement to tackle two major challenges with HAT:

1. Create meaningful employment for youth in your community

2. Prevent ecologically and culturally rich prairie-oak ecosystems from disappearing

Let’s grow hope and restore nature for future generations!

Here’s how this project grows hope in your community:

1) CREATES MEANINGFUL JOBS

We are able to create meaningful jobs for young people in the environmental field that pay a living wage. With your support, we can also extend our field season into the autumn, keeping our field crew employed for longer!

2) RESTORES ENDANGERED PRAIRIE-OAK MEADOWS

Our field crew works to restore the ecologically and culturally significant prairie-oak ecosystems (Garry oak ecosystems) that are endangered in our region.

3) PROMOTES A CARING COMMUNITY

Our work cannot be accomplished without the support of our community, from our volunteers to our funders. This campaign helps us to build and strengthen these community ties.

Your Impact, in Action

This year, help us reach our goals ambitious goals for the 2025 field season:

  • Create 5 full-time technician positions on the Restoration Field Crew for the season

  • Restore 100,000 square metres of prairie-oak habitat

  • Work at 30 ecologically significant sites across the region

  • Remove 300 cubic metres of invasive species

  • Provide paid training and professional development to our field crew

  • Work with 10 different partner organizations

  • And if we surpass our goal, extend our field crew’s season, keeping them employed for longer!

“It’s hard to pick just one favourite part of working on the restoration crew, but among the many things I love is being part of the growing restoration community.

I feel so honoured and grateful to work alongside such knowledgeable and passionate people—including my fellow co-workers, friends from partnering organizations, and our many dedicated volunteers. It’s truly inspiring to see how many folks are deeply committed to healing our local ecosystems and decolonizing the land through restoration.

Every year, HAT seems to expand the number of projects we collaborate on or support, and through that, we continue to build meaningful relationships—which feels very special. I also feel incredibly fortunate to spend my days working with plants and wildlife, all while continuing to grow my knowledge.”
