We are hiring for Habitat Restoration Field Crew Technicians - multiple positions available

Term: Full-time seasonal positions May 2023 through October 2023 

Hours: 37.5 hours/week (Monday – Friday Schedule) 

Wage: $24/hour

Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT) is seeking Habitat Restoration Field Technicians to make up our protected lands Habitat Restoration Field Crew. We are looking for individuals who are reliable, self-motivated, willing to engage themselves in rigorous physical work outdoors in any kind of weather, and who enjoy working collaboratively as a part of a tight-knit team – all while getting your hands dirty working outside with plants. 

The Habitat Restoration Field Crew will be working full-time (37.5 hours/week) for approximately 26 weeks, from the beginning of May through to the end of October. This seasonal employment opportunity will offer a rewarding and engaging opportunity to contribute directly to the health of ḰȽO,ELENEȻ ecosystems (also known as Garry oak and associated ecosystems) across the region through the restoration of this unique habitat on HAT’s protected lands, as well as those of partner organizations.  

The work schedule will be a Monday-to-Friday/9am-to-4:30pm timeframe. 

HAT seeks to support the capacity building of W̱SÁNEĆ and Lekwungen Nations in stewardship and restoration work, as well as Indigenous away-from-home relatives who wish to gain experience in the Restoration field. Work Description 

As a Habitat Restoration Field Technician, you will be responsible for the restoration of ḰȽO,ELENEȻ ecosystems (Garry oak and associated ecosystems) across lək̓ʷəŋən, W̱SÁNEĆ, SC’IȺNEW, and T'Sou-ke Nations territories (Southern Vancouver Island and Southern Gulf Islands).  

Work will take place outdoors in all weather conditions, and in the presence of insects and wildlife. Habitat Restoration work is often physically demanding, and can pose a number of inherent risks. Prospective Habitat Restoration Field Crew members should demonstrate personal initiative, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, and a willingness to learn and to engage themselves in hard work.
