Caring For Nature

  • Good Neighbours

Are you a Good Neighbour to Nature? HAT has answers to questions about gardening, plants for pollinators, tree care, and removing invasive species. Meet your land use needs while protecting some of Canada's rarest habitats. Promote native ecosystems with help from HAT.

  • Community Based Restoration

HAT is strongly committed to a holistic approach to land management, ensuring that land is not only protected but restored, maintained and supported by the community. This often means taking a community-based approach to restoration where we make sure that local volunteers and individuals help us care for the land.

  • Wildlife

Habitat loss is contributing to all kinds of wildlife population declines in the CRD. HAT is working to protect different Species at Risk through our Wildlife programs. By monitoring populations, restoring habitat, and promoting stewardship, HAT is improving the future success of Species at Risk.

Gardening With Nature

Are you interested in the idea of gardening with native plants but don’t know where to begin? Sometimes it seems like there is too much to know like unfamiliar plants names and what plants are truly native to our area.

Our motto is “ the smaller the better” when it comes to native plant gardening, even if that means starting with just a single plant. Before long you will gain experience and realize that native plants require much less maintenance, watering and can even grow enthusiastically all year long.
