This event is inclusive of Indigenous people of all nations who are comfortable in, and respectful of, spaces centring the W̱SÁNEĆ people at the I,ÍYMET TEṈEW̱ (beautiful land) of SṈIDȻEȽ ŦIŦEL SṈÁNET (SṈIDȻEȽ hill/mountain). This place is briefly known as Oak Haven Park.

This page will be here to help people know how to get to Oak Haven’s unique parking areas, and the meeting area, in the event that someone arrives early or later than the arrival of the crew and participants of this Restoration event.

Parking from Google maps

Parking on Garden Gate Drive is the most accessible option we have for this site, because the trail here is the flattest.

The parking in this location is on the street. If you’re driving your own vehicle, we recommend ensuring that your right tires on in the gravel across from the entrance to Oak Haven Park, to make room for the local residents to drive by.

For buses, we recommend this being a drop off only spot, and that the bus park somewhere nearby. A potential location is on the side of the road on Wallace Drive at SṈIDȻEȽ Tod Inlet Trail Entrance area. There are stretches of the parking along Wallace drive that are wider than others, so those wider areas are ideal for a bus to park.

Parking on Benvenuto Avenue may allow for a small bus to park on the street.

Once parked, the walk is all uphill to the meeting area.

The meeting spot is flat. So if you’d like to enjoy the company of visiting out on the land, and also have limited physical capacity, then this is a great spot to pull up a camping chair, and watch as volunteers build the pile of invasive plants that they remove from the landscape. We often bring light snacks and beverages, so you are welcome to enjoy the snacks and drinks, and also can bring some snacks to share if you want to be involved that way. At mid-day there is little shade, so if sun protection is needed, we advise you bring an umbrella to keep out of the sun at that time of day.
